Is a clear aligner orthodontic appliance made by Viva Dental

Dr. Shawn Cabbell

He uses this system in Indianapolis, Greenwood and the Virgin Islands as the preferred method to achieve predictable results. The digital scan technology, 3D modeling and 3D printing make help make the process amazingly accurate and effective from start to finish.

We will begin with a basic dental examination and x-rays. Before we start orthodontic treatment, we want to make sure that your teeth and gum tissue are healthy. If the Dr. notes any condition or issue that could potentially hinder or interfere with treatment, we will inform you before we proved. This could include the need for a cleaning, fillings, extraction of wisdom teeth etc. Once we are sure that you and your teeth are ready to begin treatment we will proceed to the next step.

The digital scan impression appointment is the first step in fabricating your custom aligners. We use a laser scanner to capture a 3D digital model of your teeth. It’s the same technology used to create the same 3D images used in video games and movies. The doctor will have a virtual representation of your teeth and this model is used to check positions and configurations on the computer. We can run several scenarios to determine what set-up and look will work best for you within the given parameters of the software.

Once we have achieved an ideal set-up, our 3D printing lab will make sequential models that we will use to fabricate a set of clear aligners. These aligners are specialized custom appliances that will move your teeth in a similar manner as traditional braces. Depending on your case, you may need to schedule periodic appointments throughout the treatment to check the fit of the aligners and the progress of the tooth movement.

As we near the final set of aligners, we will schedule a final scan and prepare to make retainers to help keep your teeth in the desired position after the process is complete. One of the advantaged of using digital scan technology is that we can easily make new retainers and quickly correct relapse in the even that the teeth move a little after treatment is complete.
